When it comes to vintage Rolex, few references are as pure and purpose-built as the Submariner 5513.

Produced from 1962 until the end of the 1980s, the ref. 5513 is one of Rolex’s longest-running and most iconic toolwatches. This particular example dates to 1970, and ticks just about every box a collector could want — and then some.

Let’s start with the dial: a beautiful ‘Meters First’ matte dial, with the depth rating reading “200m = 660ft”. Rolex printed the meters before feet only for a short window in the late 1960s to early 1970s, making these early executions especially sought-after. The painted tritium hour markers have slightly aged to a warm, creamy tone that complements the matte surface beautifully, with matching patina on the hands.

The original aluminium bezel inlay remains intact and has taken on a soft dark-grey hue over time, rounding out that honest, lived-in vintage charm. Housed in a thick 40 mm stainless steel case, the proportions remain strong with crisp bevels and full lugs.

This 5513 is fitted on a correct, period folded Oyster bracelet, offering both comfort and that unmistakable vintage wrist presence.

To top it off, the watch comes with an impressively complete set, including its original box, papers, booklets, and accessories — all dated December 1970.

All the right details, with all the right extras.
